Kawasaki KRX 1000 Bolt & Lug Pattern: 4x156 Guide
The Kawasaki Teryx KRX 1000 uses a 4x156 bolt pattern and M12x1.25 wheel-stud threads. The four-seat KRX4 1000 uses the same pattern and thread size. You may also see the pattern written as 4/156: four mounting holes on a 156 mm bolt circle. These specifications describe factory hubs; aftermarket hubs, portals or adapters may change what you need.
This guide separates bolt pattern, lug thread and wheel fitment so you can compare a wheel without overlooking its mounting requirements. For the rest of your build, start with our Kawasaki KRX 1000 parts and accessories or the dedicated KRX4 1000 accessories collection.
KRX 1000 and KRX4 1000 Wheel-Fitment Quick Reference
| Factory-hub application | Bolt / lug pattern | Stud thread |
|---|---|---|
| Teryx KRX 1000 | 4x156 (4/156) | M12x1.25 |
| Teryx KRX4 1000 | 4x156 (4/156) | M12x1.25 |
Specifications checked against Valor Offroad's wheel-fitment and installation-kit guide. Confirm your exact model year, hub configuration and the wheel manufacturer's application before ordering. A matching pattern is the starting point, not a complete fitment approval.
Bolt Pattern Is Different from Lug-Nut Thread
The bolt pattern describes the arrangement of the mounting holes. The thread specification describes the stud: M12 identifies its nominal diameter in millimeters, while 1.25 identifies the thread pitch. A wheel and a lug nut therefore need separate compatibility checks.
This matters when comparing KRX wheels with wheels advertised for another UTV. Some Polaris applications also use 4x156, but that does not establish that their supplied lug nuts, offset or complete wheel package will fit your Kawasaki. Do not buy hardware based solely on the wheel's bolt pattern.
Will Honda Talon or Other Teryx Wheels Fit a KRX?
The Honda Talon uses 4x137, which is a different pattern from the KRX's 4x156. Read our Honda Talon lug-pattern guide if you are comparing the two machines. A standard 4x137 wheel is not a direct pattern match for a factory KRX hub.
Also keep the model name precise. The Teryx KRX 1000, KRX4 1000, other Teryx models and Teryx H2 are separate applications. A listing that says only “Kawasaki” or “Teryx” is not enough to confirm KRX compatibility.
Five Checks Before Buying KRX Wheels and Tires
- Select the correct wheel variant. One product page may offer several bolt patterns, diameters and widths. Confirm the selected option rather than relying on the product photo.
- Check offset and backspacing. Compare the manufacturer's specifications with your current setup. A different wheel position can affect suspension clearance and overall vehicle width. See our UTV width guide when planning trailer or trail clearance.
- Confirm mounting clearance. Ask the wheel manufacturer about hub bore, brake clearance and your exact KRX application. Disclose portals, suspension changes and any adapters already installed.
- Match the lug hardware to the wheel. Check thread pitch, lug-seat shape, available socket clearance and the hardware specified by the wheel manufacturer. Factory nuts are not automatically suitable for an aftermarket wheel.
- Check the complete tire combination. Match tire size to the wheel diameter and the tire manufacturer's approved rim-width range. Check clearance through steering and suspension movement; a wheel fitting the hub does not mean every tire will clear.

KRX Bolt-Pattern Questions
Are 4x156 and 4/156 the same pattern?
Yes. Both describe four mounting holes on a 156 mm bolt circle. The separator changes; the specification does not.
Does matching the bolt pattern guarantee a wheel fits?
No. Check the selected size, offset, hub and brake clearance, load suitability and mounting hardware. Ask the manufacturer to confirm the wheel for your exact vehicle and modifications.
How do I measure a four-lug bolt pattern?
Measure from the center of one stud to the center of the stud directly opposite it. For a four-hole wheel, use the centers of opposite mounting holes. Consult the manufacturer's fitment information as well as your measurement.
Which torque specification should I use?
Follow the applicable Kawasaki manual and the wheel or hardware manufacturer's installation instructions. Wheel lug nuts and beadlock-ring bolts are different fasteners; do not assume they share a torque value.
