A set of 35s changes the look of a KRX in a hurry. The harder question is what happens on the trail: does the tire clear when the front suspension compresses, can you still turn tightly, and does the machine pull the way you want it to?

Will 35-inch tires fit a stock Kawasaki KRX 1000? Some owners report running them without suspension changes, but that does not establish clearance for every tire, wheel or KRX model. Treat 35s as a setup that needs checking, rather than a guaranteed stock fit. Actual tire dimensions, wheel position, steering clearance and suspension travel decide whether the combination works. Clutch compatibility is a separate check.

This guide focuses on the two-seat KRX 1000. KRX4 owners should verify their own model and parts fitment rather than carrying over a two-seat setup. Start with your exact year and trim in the Kawasaki KRX 1000 parts and accessories collection, or use the KRX4 1000 collection for the four-seater.

KRX 35-inch tire fitment checklist: actual tire size, wheel fitment, moving clearance and clutch compatibility.
Four checks to make before committing to 35-inch tires. Passing one does not replace the others.

What “35s fit a stock KRX” actually tells you

Usually, it tells you that somebody installed a particular set of tires and drove the machine. It may not tell you the wheel width, offset, tire pressure, passenger load or how much suspension travel they used. Those missing details are where an otherwise helpful answer falls apart.

For example, an owner's 2022 KRX build thread reports 35-inch tires on factory beadlocks with no rubbing during a local trail run, including some compression. That is a useful owner report, but it does not document a controlled full-travel clearance test or establish fitment for another machine.

“Stock” needs a little precision, too. Stock arms with aftermarket wheels are a different combination from stock arms with factory wheels. A machine with a spring adjustment, spacers or replacement fenders is another combination again. Before copying an owner's setup, ask what remains original.

Factory equipment also varies. Kawasaki's 2025 KRX press material describes 31-inch Maxxis Carnivore tires. Its 2026 Rock Edition announcement specifies 32-inch Roxxzillas and wheels positioned farther outward than the standard model. That factory change is a useful reminder: the trim name and wheel arrangement belong in any fitment conversation. See Kawasaki's 2025 KRX specifications and 2026 Rock Edition announcement.

A tire labeled 35 may not measure 35 inches

The sidewall size is the starting point. Published overall diameter and section width give you a much better comparison, especially when the space around a tire is tight.

Maxxis provides a useful example in its Roxxzilla specification table. These are manufacturer dimensions on the listed measuring rim, not measurements taken on a customer's KRX:

Roxxzilla 15-inch-wheel sizes: published dimensions
Specification 32x10R15 competition 35x10R15 competition
Part number TM00187200 TM00117400
Overall diameter 32.4 inches 34.5 inches
Section width 10.5 inches 10.5 inches
Measuring rim 15x7 15x7

The diameter difference here is 2.1 inches, giving a theoretical radius increase of 1.05 inches. That is a geometric comparison, not a promise of an extra inch of loaded ground clearance. Tire deflection, pressure, vehicle load and the mounted wheel all affect the result.

Also, a measuring rim is not an approved rim-width range. If you plan to reuse your wheels, confirm the tire manufacturer's permitted wheel widths. A 35x10R14 needs a 14-inch wheel; it cannot mount on a 15-inch wheel just because the overall tire diameter is similar.

Considering the SuperATV Incursion A/T?

The Incursion A/T is an all-terrain option with 8-ply construction, a nondirectional tread and a 35x10-15 size. SuperATV lists the 32x10-15 tire at 46.4 pounds and the 35x10-15 at 55.6 pounds—a difference of 9.2 pounds per tire, before wheels. That extra rotating weight belongs in the clutching conversation.

The Roxxzilla dimensions above illustrate why nominal sizing can be misleading; they are not Incursion measurements. Confirm the Incursion's mounted diameter, width and permitted wheel widths with SuperATV, then check clearance on your machine. See the Incursion specifications.

Wheel offset can change where the tire rubs

A wheel can have the right bolt pattern and still put the tire in the wrong place. Width and offset determine the tire's position relative to the suspension and bodywork. Moving the wheel outward may create room on the inside while bringing the tire closer to the fender during a turn.

That is why “use this offset” is incomplete advice without the wheel width and tire dimensions. Record the actual wheel specification, including offset in millimeters when available. Do not assume every wheel described with the same split-offset shorthand places the tire identically.

For factory KRX hubs, start with the KRX 1000 bolt and lug pattern guide: 4x156 and M12x1.25 studs. Bolt pattern is only one part of the purchase. Verify hub clearance, lug-seat compatibility, wheel load rating and any beadlock requirements with the wheel manufacturer.

Spacers also move the wheel outward. They can change a specific interference problem, but they are not a universal cure for rubbing. Check the full steering sweep, final machine width and the spacer manufacturer's installation requirements before making them part of a build.

Check clearance with the machine moving through its range

A parked KRX can show plenty of daylight around a tire. Turn the wheel or compress the suspension, and that gap can disappear. The check needs to reproduce those positions, with the tires mounted on the wheels you actually intend to use.

  1. Establish the setup. Record model year, trim, arms, wheels, spacers, tire model and size. Set pressure according to the vehicle and tire guidance for the intended load, and verify suspension setup against the vehicle manual.
  2. Check the steering sweep. Look for interference at both full-lock positions and through intermediate angles, on both front sides. Inspect the inner fenders, body edges, suspension parts and nearby lines.
  3. Check suspension travel. Have a qualified shop check clearance through compression and articulation using a safe, controlled method. A flat-ground steering check does not establish full-travel clearance. Include the rear tires and normal passenger and cargo loading.
  4. Inspect the result. Look for contact marks, pinched lines or a tire close enough that deflection could create contact. Resolve interference before trail use. Do not use a hard trail hit as your clearance test.

If clearance fails, identify where and under what position it fails. A smaller tire, a different wheel arrangement or a vehicle-specific suspension change may address that location. Buying a lift first can leave the original problem unresolved.

Does a lift or forward-offset arm guarantee 35-inch clearance?

No. A lift changes ride height; it does not necessarily prevent contact at full compression or full steering lock. Forward-offset front arms change the wheel's fore-and-aft position, while a high-clearance bend primarily changes the arm's own clearance over obstacles. Those are different functions.

Read the rating for the exact part. As of this article's research, SuperATV's KRX boxed 1.5-inch forward-offset arm page describes room for 34-inch tires. That is not manufacturer confirmation that every 35-inch tire clears. Get confirmation for your proposed tire and wheel combination before treating these arms as a solution.

What 35s change about gearing and clutching

A larger tire travels farther with each wheel revolution. At a given drivetrain ratio, that makes the effective gearing taller. Tire and wheel weight add another variable, so diameter alone cannot predict how the machine will feel.

Using nominal sizes only, changing from 31 to 35 inches makes the tire-diameter ratio about 13% larger. At the same axle torque, the corresponding tractive force is roughly 11% lower. This is simple diameter math, not an 11% horsepower loss or a measured KRX acceleration result. Actual rolling dimensions and CVT behavior change the real-world comparison.

Clutch tuning changes how the CVT shifts and responds to load. Dynojet's Super Shift kit uses adjustable components for different riding applications. A matched setup can help the CVT respond to the added tire load, but it does not change the tire diameter or the mechanical final-drive ratio. Judge the result by how the machine responds in your terrain rather than assuming a particular speed or acceleration gain.

A clutch kit cannot create physical tire clearance. Likewise, a tire that clears can still leave you dissatisfied with acceleration or response. Evaluate those questions separately, particularly for sand, steep climbs, heavy loads or riding at elevation.

Do not overlook the 2025 clutch change

Aftermarket Assassins specifies a three-arm clutch for its 2025-up KRX kit and distinguishes it from the four-arm clutch used on 2020–2024 models. Its model-year fitment notice is a reason to verify the clutch actually installed on your machine before purchasing tuning components.

For the Dynojet option featured here, 17-DCK2 is listed for 2020–2024 KRX 1000 models. Dynojet separately lists 17-DCK3 for 2025-up KRX 1000 models. Do not substitute one for the other. If the machine has a replacement clutch or other drivetrain modifications, confirm compatibility before ordering. Follow the correct kit's setup instructions for tire size, elevation and terrain; there is no universal flyweight setting for “35s.”

What to confirm before you order

A useful fitment request contains more than “I have a KRX and want 35s.” Give the seller or installer the following:

  • Your year, trim and whether the machine is a KRX 1000 or KRX4.
  • The tire's exact brand, model, compound and size, plus published dimensions.
  • Wheel diameter, width and offset; note any spacers or adapters.
  • Current suspension parts, typical load, riding terrain and elevation.
  • Whether clearance has been checked through steering and suspension travel.
  • The clutch currently installed and any engine or drivetrain modifications.

Ask for the basis of the answer: a manufacturer fitment rating, a documented matching setup or an estimate that still needs testing. For an owner report to be useful, it should include those same details and explain how clearance was checked.

Plan for the spare, too. Confirm that the carrier supports the tire's diameter and the complete tire-and-wheel weight. A larger spare changes the load and packaging even when the four running tires clear.

KRX 35-inch tire questions, answered

Can I keep the stock wheels with 35-inch tires?

Possibly, with a tire approved for the wheel's diameter and width. That does not establish vehicle clearance. Confirm the mounted tire dimensions and check the combination through steering and suspension travel.

Are 32-inch tires a better choice than 35s?

They can be if you want a smaller size change and less clearance work. The right answer depends on the particular tire and what you need it to do. Compare actual dimensions, complete assembly weight, terrain and clearance rather than choosing from the sidewall number alone.

Do I need a clutch kit for 35s on a KRX?

Tire size alone cannot answer that. A properly matched kit may improve response under load, but year, clutch design, tire weight, elevation and terrain matter. Clutch tuning does not correct rubbing or replace a mechanical gear reduction.

Will the same setup fit a KRX4?

Do not assume it will. Verify the four-seat model's year, factory equipment, load and the specific parts' fitment. A matching bolt pattern is not evidence of matching tire clearance.

Choose the tire that solves your riding problem, then verify the combination around it. Browse UTV tires and UTV wheels, or start in the KRX 1000 accessories collection to keep vehicle-specific parts together.
