Forced-Air UTV Helmets: Bell Top-Air vs. MRC EVO
Choose a forced-air helmet around fit, intended use and hose routing. The air inlet is only one part of that decision. This guide compares the top-air Bell Qualifier and mid-air MRC Stage One EVO options sold by RAD, without claiming a universal winner or a hands-on performance ranking.

Bell Qualifier: check overhead hose clearance
A top-air connection routes the hose above the helmet. Sit in your normal riding position and allow room for the connector and head movement below the roof. Review the exact product's wiring options, size chart and intended use before ordering. A pumper and vehicle intercom are separate unless expressly listed in a package.
MRC Stage One EVO: check the threaded mid-air inlet
The current EVO design uses a threaded mid-air inlet and adjustable sizing pads within the listed size groups. Choose each rider's size using the current MRC chart and instructions. Its supplied Rugged Radios wiring supports OFFROAD and STX STEREO connections with the appropriate cables. A compatible intercom and vehicle-to-helmet cables remain separate components.
Five checks before selecting a helmet
- Fit: measure the rider and follow the manufacturer's sizing guidance.
- Intended use: verify the exact helmet's certification and the requirements of your activity or event. Recreation and race equipment are not interchangeable by assumption.
- Air inlet: match the hose and adapter to the actual helmet, not only the brand.
- Audio: check mono/stereo connections and the selected wiring option against your intercom.
- Clearance: check the roof, seat, headrest and hose route with the rider seated.
When a package makes sense

Frequently asked questions
Does a wired helmet include an intercom?
No. Wiring in the helmet is not a vehicle intercom, radio or complete cabling kit. Check all connections before ordering.
Can I add forced air to any helmet?
Use only the manufacturer's approved inlet and installation method. Do not assume an adapter makes an ordinary helmet suitable for forced air.
Does helmet air change the helmet's certification?
No. Check the helmet's exact certification and intended use independently. Recreational pumpers move filtered ambient air; they are not certified respirators or protection from exhaust gases.
