The Rugged Radios GMR5 is the next evolution of Rugged’s popular handheld GMRS platform, delivering a full 5 watts of transmit power in a compact, rechargeable radio built for off-road riding, overlanding, camping, job sites, and travel beyond dependable cell coverage.

With 22 GMRS channels, 8 repeater channels, USB-C charging, weather alerts, a removable antenna, and compatibility with Rugged 2-pin accessories, the GMR5 combines stronger communication capability with the everyday features needed for real-world use.

How powerful is the Rugged Radios GMR5?

The GMR5 provides up to 5 watts of transmit power for a stronger signal and greater communication range potential. Actual range will depend on terrain, obstructions, antenna setup, weather conditions, and whether a compatible GMRS repeater is used.

5-Watt GMRS Communication

The GMR5 gives riders, campers, work crews, and overlanders a simple way to communicate using standard GMRS channels. It works with other compatible GMRS radios and can also communicate with FRS radios on supported shared channels.

Its full 5-watt output provides more transmit power than lower-powered handheld radios, helping you stay connected when traveling across trails, campsites, open terrain, or areas with limited cellular service.

22 GMRS Channels and 8 Repeater Channels

The radio includes 22 GMRS channels for broad compatibility with GMRS and FRS walkie-talkies. It also includes 8 GMRS repeater channels, allowing communication through compatible repeater systems where available.

An A/B channel switch makes it easy to move between two programmed channels without navigating through multiple menus.

Rechargeable 2000mAh USB-C Battery

A 2000mAh rechargeable battery provides dependable portable power, while USB-C charging makes it easy to recharge the radio using the included charging block and cable.
